New insights into the ads that are currently running on Facebook.
I was excited to learn that Facebook actually provides some insights into the ads that are currently running on their platform. They call it the Facebook Ad Library and it offers you a glimpse into the ads running for any Facebook page. This can offer you some insights into what your competitors are doing. Unfortunately, the Ad Library only reveals insights for ad CURRENTLY running. But that can still provide some valuable insight if you keep an eye on your competitors regularly.
Here’s a look at how the Ad Library works:
First, you need to search for the page that the ads might be related to. Last week I had looked at the ads for the movie “Little Women.” and had intended to use that as an example in this blog post. But I discovered this week that they have pulled their advertising so ad information is no longer available. You’ll need to keep an eye on your competition week to week and take screengrabs and notes to remember stats.
This is a snapshot of the ads for the movie Fantasy Island taken on February 10, 2020. As you can see they have literally HUNDREDS of ads running… and in some instances, they have multiple versions of ads.
When looking at the results of the ads for Fantasy Island, you’ll notice that
Unfortunately, the “Details” page for ads doesn’t seem to be very detailed other than letting you click through to see the different versions. If those versions include creative changes you can see them, but if the versions are differences in market or demographic targetting, that information is unfortunately not shared.
